Camille Herron’s Whistleblower Story: Retaliation, Neurodivergence, and Standing Up for Integrity in Ultrarunning

I recently joined John Lacroix on the Human Potential Running Series Podcast for a thoughtful and in-depth conversation about my lived experience as an athlete, whistleblower, and neurodivergent human.

For the first time, I was able to publicly share- in my own voice- my experience as a whistleblower and the public smear campaign that followed to try and discredit and silence me, including false claims surrounding my husband’s Wikipedia account and the recent 24-Hour World Championship situation. Everything I discussed is well documented, evidence based, and explaining the formal processes I’ve been part of.

We talked openly about my AuDHD diagnosis, how neurodivergence shapes my communication style, and how my justice sensitivity for fairness and integrity has guided my actions throughout my running career. These traits are also what led me to report safety and integrity concerns— actions that have been validated multiple times by the governing bodies and the Nevada Secretary of State.

We also explored my new mission: helping build a more inclusive sport that understands and supports neurodivergent athletes, especially those with sensory sensitivities.

This conversation is honest, thoughtful, and grounded in facts and lived experience. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to speak uninterrupted and unedited, after never being interviewed last year. I hope it brings clarity, promotes understanding, and helps move the sport forward in a positive and inclusive direction. Thank you for listening 🎤🎧.
